I have to be honest, I couldn’t be happier for September to be over and done with, so much has happened which is best left to dwell on over a hot chocolate with extra whipped cream rather than over a keyboard and glaring screen. Despite all the rubbish September has thrown at me and my family I’m still eagerly looking forward to Autumn and the crisp cooler weather it brings, I have to admit, even though it is still 3 months away I am starting to get that tingle of excitement for the festive season!
Wet & Windy Travels
I’ve been on my fair share of holidays abroad (have a few more planned for next year) but I want to make an effort to travel more across the UK, we have so many beautiful destinations right on our doorstep and it seems a shame to leave them untrodden. This month, in a bid to culture myself a little more we soaked up the city life in London, staying at the incredible St Martin Lane Hotel; the bed, the location, the breakfast it was all perfect, I think it might become my go to hotel for visits to the capital!
We also managed to fit in a trip to Wales this month, staying in the middle of a field on an abandoned private jet, honestly such a cool experience! It was cold, wet, windy and I ate far too many Gingerbread Swirls but none the less the perfect little trip away with my favourite human.
I’ve been stocking up on all the Autumn/Winter hibernation goodies, including new bed linen, candles and an obscene amount of hot chocolate syrups (Hazelnut hot chocolate is unbeatable) – all the basics. I’ve been to Homesense at least twice a week this month buying all things autumnal but I can’t be blamed, there is a humongous store within walking distance of our flat and I’ve been searching out a new feature rug for our living room, after spilling a Wagamama takeaway on ours (note to self – Katsu Curry stains do not come out), I haven’t found a suitable rug yet but each time I go I come back with something Pumpkin scented/coloured! Do you have any Autumn essentials, please share because I’m due another trip to Homesense soon!
Okay so I can safely say I failed my September goals, I still have no clue how to make a cinemegraph but I did look up a few tutorials so we will carry that goal over for this month too!
My other goal for October is to get more into Instagram Stories, I just drink up Instagram stories at the moment but very rarely post on there. I’m going to aim for a story a day but realistically it will be more like a story every few days, my days just aren’t interesting enough!
My last goal is to be able to hear again, an ear issue has left me almost completely deaf for the entire month and It’s really got me realising how hard it must be to live with any health issue, I can’t imagine how difficult people with permanent deafness or blindness must find everyday life if I’m so affected by my (hopefully) short term issue. I’m not sure I can watch TV with subtitles forever and my family and friends are bored of me shouting ‘Wah?’ It’s definitely taught me to be more tolerant of everyone around me.
How has your month been? I would love to hear the highlights!
