The beautiful thing about us humans is that no two people are the same, we each have different values and tastes which should definitely be reflected in the narrative of our homes. I know I harp on about it all the time but decorating your home isn’t all about colour schemes and faddy trends; it’s about functionality, style and most of all personality. It’s the personal possessions that make a house into a place that feels like a safe haven for its inhabitants, but it is also the personal possessions that divide our opinion in terms of style and that is totally okay!
I thought in the spirit of bad taste I would share a part of my home that a lot of people would definitely describe as a design mistake, a piece of art (?) that took me some time to really appreciate – a singing, dancing fish plaque.
What was once a joke present that I thought would never cross the threshold of our home has now become something I love, purely because of the happiness it brings to Tom, my nieces and pretty much anyone who presses the ugly red button!
So here is to personality and a touch of tack, may it fill your home with happiness! Oh and look at that face!
Do you have any love/hate items in your home? Conversational pieces that have stories behind them?
Hey I bought that fish and it is NOT UGLY ?
