Brown paper packages tied up with string, those are a few of my favorite things… One of the joys of Christmas is spending hours tangled up in sellotape attempting to wrap odd shaped presents whilst a festive film flickers in the background. If I can, I tend to set aside a chilly, late December afternoon for wrapping all my Christmas presents.
I have had an affinity with brown paper wrap since I was a child, selecting plain brown paper so I could embellish it with my own badly drawn designs and I haven’t let go of it since (although I have stopped attempting to draw an intricate father Christmas on each gift!) so I thought I would share a few ways I make brown paper a bit more festive!
Tied Up With String
Nothing quite compares to a brown paper package simply tied up with string, the perfect simple way to make craft paper a little bit more put together. Layers of string and a very simple hand written tag are all you need for a Scandinavian inspired, minimalist Christmas gift!
Trees & Bits
Despite being pretty much free, I think this brown paper update will make your gifts look far more luxurious, simply pick up pieces of pine tree or holly leaves on festive walks and you have a really interesting present decoration!
Taking it back to childhood here, I had so much fun potato printing, I cut out a very simple star shape and threw some paint on the homemade stamp! I think the effect of this is really fun and I’m sure this is something that kids would enjoy doing!
So get the candles burning, stick on The Grinch and get in the festive wrapping mood!!
